When you are approved for Food Stamps, you are certified for a specified period. For most people, this is for 6 months.

If you find yourself still in need of the assistance after this time has passed, you must recertify. This requires action on your part. The department will send you a notice, to the address on file, approxamently a month before your case is to expire. Do not rely on this notice. There are many time where either a letter gets lost in the mail, or a client does not remember to update their new address or who knows what happens. The point is, regaurdless of if you get a notice or not, your case will automatically expire the last day of the month you are certified through. So, write your certification due date down on a calendar, or if you don't look at a calendar, set up a MyAccess Account online where you can view your benefit status and certification date at any time day or night.
You can request a paper application online or by phone. The automated phone system will send an application to any address you request it to go to. Or, you can have a paper application be sent to someone online by going to. This link also will give you the fax number or address you should send the application to.

The fax number varies depending on where you are located in Florida, but by putting in your zip code you will get the location of your local service center and their fax number. However, when mailing in an application, they will all go to the ACCESS Central Mail Center PO Box 1 Wildwood, Fl 34785. (When faxing always make sure that you put your ACCESS number or case number on every page being faxed.). You can also recertify online by creating a MyAccess Account. Make sure you click the option 'Submit A Recertification or Review'. Make sure you check all of the information in your account for accuracy and don't just rush through. People sometimes forget that they did not get a chance to update their phone number, or their rent amount or even their address and they will submit an inaccurate applciation without even realizing it.

This will only prolong the process and lead to incorrect or even denied benefits. Take the time to review every section, perhaps you never listed medical expenses or daycare expenses or child support paid out which would have actually increased your benefits. For example, a lot of people never list their medical insurance premiums or medical expenses they have to pay monthly. These can add up and actually can make a significant difference to the amount you are eligible for.
I can not stress enough how important it is that you sign the recertification. You have not completed the recertification until the system gives you your access number, you review the information, you sign and it specifically says that you are done.
